Dr. Ruben Alvero spoke to sheknows.com about the anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) test that has emerged as an important tool for identifying diminished ovarian reserve, which is a cause of infertility. Dr. Alvero, who conducts research around AMH and the AMH test, is on the leading edge of exploring the hormone’s role in reproductive health.
“AMH is a relatively new addition to what we do, so OB-GYN doctors may have been training back when FSH was the only test,” he explains, noting many OB-GYNs may be unaware of this new AMH test.
