Meet Our Lab Staff

Yimin Shu, MD, Ph.D., HCLD

Dr. Shu received his doctor of medicine degree in clinical medicine from Tongji Medical University and later earned a Ph.D. at Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences. Before coming to Women & Infants, Dr. Shu spent the last two decades working as the “earliest babysitter” in in vitro fertilization (IVF) labs, performing IVF, culturing human oocytes and embryos, and selecting the best embryos for transfer. Dr. Shu says it is an honor to work in clinical IVF teams and have the opportunity to bring happiness to thousands of families.

Richard Hackett, MS, HCLD

Richard Hackett has brought many new procedures to the IVF laboratory and has ensured that the space is on the leading edge of technology. He performed in vitro fertilization (IVF) for the first “test tube” baby in Rhode Island and has been part of more than 10,000 IVF cycles. His main research interests have been with steroid hormones and oocyte structure, and he has been an author on many abstracts, papers and book chapters.
